*New* Announcing Fall 2023 Round of Royalty Research Fund (Due: 9/21/23)

Posted: 8/18/2023 (Funding)

Applications are now open for the Fall 2023 round of the UW Royalty Research Fund (RRF) grant program.

The “Royalty” in RRF is the royalty and licensing fee income generated by the University’s technology transfer program. These funds are awarded as small grants to advance new directions in research, particularly:

  • In disciplines for which external funding opportunities are minimal, and/or
  • For faculty who are junior in rank, and/or
  • In cases where funding may provide unique opportunities to increase applicants’ competitiveness for subsequent funding.

Proposals must demonstrate a high probability of generating important new creative activities or scholarly understandings, new scholarly materials or resources, significant data or information, or essential instrumentation. Proposals from all disciplines are welcome, with budgets up to $40,000. Proposals will be peer reviewed through one of four RRF Review Committees: Arts and Humanities; Social and Behavioral Sciences; Basic Biological and Biomedical Sciences; and Physical Sciences and Engineering. Some of you may notice that we have changed the committee structure to separate Arts and Humanities from Social and Behavioral Sciences. Especially in light of this change, please select the Research Area that most closely matches your project, which might not necessarily align with your home department.

Application instructions can be found at the Office of Research Central web site. Contact the RRF administrative staff with questions about the program: Peter Wilsnack, (206) 685-9316.

Proposals are due September 21, by 5:00 PM.
